What exactly did we build?
About the project
Twenty-two metres of clear space for vehicle servicing. The 33.7 m long gable-roofed hall is complemented by lower mono-pitch sections. The building has an overall footprint of approximately 39 × 28 m.
- An unobstructed structure: A 22 m span and 6.52 m eaves height provide room for vehicle movement and work above them. Main IPE 360 beams are complemented by IPE 300 and IPE 240 sections in the lower areas.
- Eight panel lengths: Five roof planes required 138 panels in eight lengths from 6,955 to 12,070 mm. Of the total 1,479 m², PIR panels cover 1,407 m² and mineral-wool panels 72 m²; both types are 120 mm thick.
- Bearing details: The design addresses thermal bridging at beams supported by masonry with a 20 mm Purenit board and foam insulation around the beam opening. Z-purlins are doubled at the roof valley and supplemented with galvanised sheet metal.
- Insulated ceiling panels: The ceilings use 40 mm PIR panels in RAL 9002, with a vapour barrier and galvanised fixings.
The key installation challenge: joining five roof planes and accurately positioning 138 panels in eight different lengths.
