What exactly did we build?
About the project
An extension to a hall that stayed operational. The six-bay structure measures approximately 35.6 × 14.3 m and connects to the transport company’s existing premises.
- Connection during operation: Existing wall rails and brackets had to be removed where the two buildings meet. Installation was adapted to the actual condition of the original hall.
- Steel and surface protection: The S235 and S355 steel structure uses grade 8.8 and 10.9 bolted connections. After blast cleaning to Sa 2½, it received a 120 μm polyurethane coating in RAL 9010.
- Anchoring into concrete: HILTI HIT-RE 500 chemical anchors with M20 and M12 threaded rods have embedment depths of 200 and 120 mm. A 20 mm grout layer beneath the base plates provides uniform bearing.
- A clean parapet line: A 7.47 m high parapet conceals the gently sloping roof. Holes for the parapet posts were drilled during installation to suit the actual connection to the existing building.
Our fourth project for JAPO Transport: the hall extension followed a car wash, a truck wash and a connecting bridge.
