What exactly did we build?
About the project
Two façade layers, each with a different role. The sports hall is complemented by a three-storey building with reception, a café, offices, dance studios and fitness facilities. The municipality of Moravany is the project owner; our client was STRABAG a.s.
- Steel complements concrete: Our scope included the building’s steel components and the support structure for the suspended façade. The façade steelwork alone weighs approximately 19.4 t; the main reinforced-concrete frame was supplied by another contractor.
- Thermal envelope and outer skin: The thermal envelope comprises 1,615 m² of 120 mm PIR panels. In front of it sits 1,350 m² of suspended profiled metal cladding, complemented by 135 m² of smooth sheet metal.
- A diagonal across the façade: The transition between façade sections runs diagonally along the building. Each sheet therefore required accurate measurement and cutting to match its position.
- Room for sport: The hall provides 10.5 m clear height beneath the roof beams and a 32 m span. The playing floor sits 3.3 m below the main entrance, allowing the foyer to connect to the gallery and spectator stands.
Approximately 8.1 t of façade steelwork is hot-dip galvanised and 11.3 t is painted. The surface protection varies according to the position of the components.
